As Antoine de Saint Exupery wrote, it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eyes, things exist that without contradicting the aphorism, they clarify it where we would say that sufficient. Probably some holidays, shorter or longer, in a rural house in Banyeres del Penedès are not essential, we do no aspire as much, but we think that are convenient. This is not a current opinion, from today, we have prove that Banyeras has been from long time ago a chosen place, appreciated for the human settlement. Since the necropolis discovered in 1960 belonging to the 4th and 5th century BC, to the Iberian site from 3rd century BC, and the Iberian roman remains and Romans existing in the population, the facts are demonstrating it.

The village located over a hill, and despite of the proximity of the mountain ranges, is flat, waved and planted of vineyards, it contains remarkable and singular buildings and farms, and cultural sites as the Josep Cañas museum, dedicated to the work of this important sculptor and sketcher, cosmopolitan son of the locality.

 Apart of the services that we are offering, the presence of rhythmic palms leaves an overseas flavour, witness of the capacity of its inhabitants to do not lock in themselves and fly around the world with something more than the imagination. The kindness of the communications makes it especially suitable for a pleasant stay in contact with the nature, specifically with the rural atmosphere, while it allows developing from there tourist activities of first order, aside from the strictly local ones.

 

As cultural interest the remains of the Castle of Banyeres, although nowadays still only one almost demolished tower, of circular plant, and with irregular ashlars masonries, twelve meters height, it appears named, from the year 938 like the Tower of the Guard of Banyeres, whose rights showed the Monastery of Sant Cugat. That area of the Penedès region, old border with the county of Barcelona, was object of dispute in the days of the reconquest. Nobody was resigned to lose it.

 

The hermitage of Santa Maria del Priorat, whose construction had in its origins a single nave of Romanesque style, to that added another nave with six apses at the time of transition the gothic one. In the interior emphasize a stone coffin, constructed in different styles, from the pre-Romanesque one to the gothic one. In the interior there are remains that could belong to the old priors. The shrine gothic style. Also the stone ashlar masonry and the floor tiles of the ground are very interesting. The hermitage is the last vestige of the old priorato Benedictine, located in this place.

 

The Parochial Church of Santa Eulalia, constructed at the end of 17th century replacing the old one, is located near the castle and appears mentioned for the first time in 1054.

They exist, also, diverse farms remarkable scattered by the term: : La Garita Vella, Mas Roig, Casa Roja, Corral d'en Beina, Casa Murada, Can Canyís, ...

Talking about Banyeres, we cannot omit mention “l’ Om”, hundred-year-old tree, located in the main square, to which it gives the name.
